Submit an invoice to FBR

6 min readUpdated 18 Sep 2026Finance & tax

CargoHub builds invoices from delivered bilties, posts them to your ledger and submits them to FBR. The IRN and QR code come back and print on the invoice.

01Before you start

  • An owner has completed Settings → Tax profile: NTN, STRN, provincial registration and FBR submission credentials.
  • Your role includes invoices.post to post and tax.submit to submit. Accountants have both.
  • The bilties are delivered and their PODs are verified.

02Build the invoice

  1. Open Finance & Accounting → Billing & invoices and click Build invoice.
  2. Choose the party. CargoHub lists their delivered, verified TBB bilties.
  3. Tick the bilties to include and check the tax lines. The buyer’s NTN and HS codes are validated before you can post.

03Post it

Posting issues the invoice number, for example INV-2026-00319, and writes one balanced entry:

AccountNarrationDebitCredit
1200Trade receivable · Nishat MillsRs 2,43,847
4100Freight incomeRs 2,06,650
2310Sales tax payable (18%)Rs 37,197
Balanced · INV-2026-00318Rs 2,43,847Rs 2,43,847

Posted invoices can’t be edited. To change one, issue a credit note against it.

04Submit to FBR

  1. Click Submit to FBR on the posted invoice, or select several in the register and submit together.
  2. The status moves from Queued to Submitted to Accepted, usually within a few seconds.
  3. The IRN is saved on the invoice and the QR code is generated for printing.
Timeouts and FBR downtime are retried automatically every 2 minutes. You don’t need to resubmit.

05If FBR rejects it

FBR saysWhat to do
Invalid buyer NTNCorrect the NTN on the party, then credit and reissue the invoice.
HS code missingSet the HSN on the commodity; it flows to new invoices.
Duplicate invoice numberContact support — this means the invoice was already accepted.
Service unavailableNothing to do. It is retried automatically.

06Print with IRN and QR

Print or download the PDF from the invoice. Reprints are marked as copies and never post money again.
